Mar.'08 Peter Wolf, MONTHLY MIND GAME: "The Choice of Happiness."
It's hard to believe that it's officially the first day of Spring. Perhaps it's the snow banks that have outlasted either our energy, or even our shovels. Or perhaps it's the fact that time appears to be
passing by for so many faster than ever. To some it can feel like time is passing them by creating a feeling of stress or even guilt about past opportunities. However I've found more often than not
when I suggest to people that most of their actions and results they have complete control over; there can be feelings from great empowerment to great fear. What feelings are evoked when you are told you have
incredible control in your current actions, and the results of your life?
Holding accountability and complete responsibility in your own life can have a drastic affect depending on how you view yourself and your future.
Or in fact, depending on your current circumstances that until now you may have not recognized are by enlarge your own creation. If in this very moment you view your life as complete "choice" from this
instant forward, what is your immediate gut reaction? What do you instinctively think and feel?
Do you think of money? Power? Happiness? Love? Peace? Family? Travel? Fear? Uncertainty? Confusion? The fact is, in some fashion you most likely have almost
all of the above. Some you create consciously while others happen almost in the background, or it may appear like you've been victimized in some way. However, these are greatly experiences created
subconsciously. The element of denial as we view those seemingly negative areas can become very apparent. To objectively observe and understand our own hidden thoughts can certainly appear to be an
overwhelming task. However, learning to understand the apparent "negatives" we feel and create is in fact one of the most profound gifts we can give to ourselves. Each and every thought and feeling
that has a less than positive impact on us, is in it's very essence a clear signal directing us to the exact opposite. A feeling of "guilt", is a road sign asking us to set ourselves free, that we are only
capable of what we recognized at the time and place where that feeling originated. It's a message asking us to forgive, ourselves. A sense of "I can't" is a bright green light that calls us to move
forward and to acknowledge just how limitless we are. The feeling of fear we have is often understandable, and even appropriate depending on the evidence within our lives. But the actual message is, "we can."
A feeling of "anger", is by far the most powerful and confusing. This message is one that asks us, often screams at us to step back to the very first moment, the origin of aggression. Here you
will find perhaps confusion, sadness, hurt, and most likely fear. Therefore, anger itself is not a natural emotion, and rather a result of other surpressed or unvalidated feelings. This is a message of what
we need, require, and are deserving of. In the end, everyone alive will recognize a feeling of wanting acceptance. That we are all accepted as we are, or in our gifts that we wish to share, or simply
in our desire to express and receive love. There is no one better than our animal friends that will guide us in the most innocent adventure to express and receive our most genuine emotions.
Understanding and "accepting" what we only perceive as negative, is the very power that creates positive and fulfilling emotions and motivation. The empowerment that culminates from such simplicity creates
abundance and peace that most only dream of. The process of creating "negative" reactions and thoughts is one that is learned. What you may perceive now as an impossible task to simply
"feel different", is one I ask you to allow into your life. You learned the negative, you can re-educate yourself back to your authentic positive. Become inspired once again... in life itself, and in
your own experiences. Be inspired in all experiences that reveal themselves to you and all that you accept and create. "It is choice alone that allows us not just to win, but to live and be free.
To win is to conquer, to live is to experience, to be free is to love the life you create."
